China Usually Costs More, But Not Always

Across 20 cost items in the dataset, China is pricier on 17, especially rent, fitness memberships, and mobile plans. India runs higher on only three: cappuccino, draft beer, and cigarettes.

Each row shows the same item in both countries. Salary is excluded here because it is income, not a living cost. The chart is sorted by the China-to-India price ratio, and the x-axis uses a log scale so high-ticket items and small daily purchases can share one view.
