About Makeover Monday

MakeoverMonday is a social data project: “Each week we post a link to a chart, and its data, and then you rework the chart. Maybe you retell the story more effectively, or find a new story in the data. We’re curious to see the different approaches you all take. Whether it’s a simple bar chart or an elaborate infographic, we encourage everyone of all skills to partake. Together we can have broader conversations about and with data.”

Starting from Jan 08, 2018, I decided to put aside one hour on Monday weekly to create some visualization and find some insights from the data.

Makeover Monday 20190617

This week we have a large dataset with almost 500k rows. It’s about the Airbnb reviews at Berlin, with each row as one review. The original viz could be found here. This dashboard has a clean tooltip, though the color is not really color blind friendly…

My Visualization

My visualization tries to build a simple UI for users to find the best Airbnb listing at Berlin with customized filters.

Insights

• Central Berlin – Pankow, Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Neokullo have the most listings (I guess these are where most toursits stay), but the average rating is just about average in those neighbourhoods (especially Mitte, it has the lowest average rating…);
