Amazon Prime Day Sales

Last week we had the Amazon Prime Day and I placed several orders (though still waiting for one of them…). This makes me curious about the Prime Day sales amount. I was able to find the data [here], and this The History of Prime Day page by amazon is also a very interesting read.

Insights

  • Since 2015’s first Prime Day, the total sales for Prime Day has more than 10x-ed, however, in early days, Prime Day was literally one day, but now it has been extended to two days;
  • The greatest increase was seen between 2017 to 2020, with ~$2B increase every year roughly. However, since COVID, the increase has slowed down to ~$1B per year.
