2022 Qatar World Cup Is More Expensive Than Ever
The 2022 World Cup is happening now in Qatar. Though I am not a soccer fan, I feel I should make a visualization on it this week :) After some googling, I found this crazy data of how much more Qatar spent to host this World Cup than the other countries on Statista. So I pretty much used the same data and made my own version of visualization.
My Visualization
The visualization is rather simple – a bar chart with color coding on Qatar World Cup. I also used matching colors on the title.
Please notice that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.
Insights
- To host a World Cup, Qartar spent more than 15x than any other previous hosts;
- I was also curious about the ROI on hosting a World Cup, and the most close thing I can find is here. Seems like for most previous hosts, World Cup actually resulted in deficits.
