US Consumers Excited for Holiday Shopping
Happy 2023! Today is the last day of my 10-days holiday, so I decided to make another visualization related to holidays. I found this consumers report by Mckinsey. It has many interesting data points, including household savings trend, eagerness for holiday shopping, timing and reason for shopping, etc.
My Visualization
The visualization I made uses the survey responses data of % of US consumers eager or excited for holiday-shopping season. I put two group types side by side, so it’s easier to compare YoY trend as well as differences among each group.
Please notice that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.
Insights
- We see the % of respondents excited for holiday shoppings going up for all the groups in 2022, comparing to 2021;
- Segmenting by income, it is not suprising to see people with higher income are more excited for holiday shopping in both years;
- It is interesting that when segmenting by generation, younger generations (Gen Z and Millennials) are more excited for holiday shopping than older generations.
