Global PE/VC Funding Round Investments 2022

The most shocking news in the startup world last week is obviously the bank run and shutdown of the Silicon Valley Bank. It was a crazy event and one of the reason behind it was the lacking of startup funding since last year. Therefore, this year, I decided to visualize the global PE/VC funding round investments in 2022 from S&P.

This visualization is very straightforward with two metrics, one in bar chart and another in line chart.

Insights

• Though we see small bounce-back in deals amount in Mar and Jun (probably because it is quarter end), generally speaking, the VC/PE funding rounds investments have declined a lot across 2022 – monthly number of deals dropped ~50% while total amount offered decreased by ~2/3, comparing Dec to Jan 2022.
