Stress Levels at Works

Mental health is always an important topic in life, both in personal life and work life. This week, I found 2021 Work and Well-being Survey results by the American Psychological Association. It has various data points around stress levels at work and different contributing factors. I used the data from this report to make a visualization.

My Visualization

The data I used focuses on people’s perception on what factors have very/somewhat significant impact on stress levels at work. It has data from 2019 and 2021, so it’s also interesting to put the data from two years side by side for a comparison.

Please notice that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.

Insights

  • The top factors people think contributing to stress levels at work are compensation (low salaries) and career growth (lack of opportunity for growth or advancement).
  • Also, comparing 2019 and 2021 results, we see more people responding ‘very/somewhat significant imapct’ across thr board. This could be related to the fact that 2021 was amid the pandemic, causing difficulties to general work environment and people’s life.
