Two new movies Barbie and Oppenheimer were out last week and attracted lots of people to the movie theater. This makes me wonder how box office data has been trending since the pandemic and if it has bounced back. Therefore, the data I am visualizing this week is the daily box office data from IMDB.

Each circle in the chart represents one year between 2019 and 2023, with days moving in the clockwise order. The size of each small spikes indicates the daily gross box office.

Insights
- Box Office declined significantly since Q2 2020 due to the pandemic, and stayed low below $20k daily until Jun 2021;
- Daily box office passed $100m first time after the pandemic on 12/17, with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
