S&P Companies Citing AI on Earning Calls

This week, the dataset I am visualizing is very simple – the number of S&P 500 companies citing ‘AI‘ on their earning calls. But the story is rather interesting – it clearly shows how AI has been on top of mind for the largest companies out there.

Insights

• The term ‘AI’ has been there for a long time – ten years ago, there were already companies mentioning ‘AI’ on their earning calls. However, the most revent quarter, thanks to ChatGPT and other AI development, the # of S&P companies citing ‘AI’ skyrocketed to 110, from last year’s average of 62.
