Anime Rating Jan 2024
It has been a while since my last data visualization on anime, and we have seen many more good anime since then. This week, I found an updated MyAnimeList rating dataset on Kaggle and decided to visualize it.
My Visualization
This visualization plots all the seasonal anime between 2000 and 2023 on a year basis by their score. When you click an anime on the left, its details will be displayed on the right panel.
Please notice that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.
Insights
- Number of anime on air each year is growing over time, and even the average rating is increasing;
- On average, every other year, we see one anime getting a 9.0+ rating – Sousou no Frieren, which is still airng, is at 9.14 right now, surpassing our long-time 1st place Fullmetal Alchemist by 0.05. But its score could fluctuate after it finishes airing.
