Number of Public Holidays

This week I browsed datasets posted on Makeover Monday and found the countries with the most public holidays dataset. It is very interesting to see the number of public holidays varies from 8 days to 39 days in a year around the world. Therefore, I decided to make a visualization of it.

My Visualization

Instead of making a classic map view, I decided to make a special version of bar chart, with each country represented by a square.

Please notice that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.

Insights

• The most common number of public holidays fall between 10 to 16 days worldwide;
• It is very interesting that 8 of the top 10 countries with the most public holidays are actually in Asia (mostly South Asia), with Nepal leading the game of 39 days.
