US Tipping Habits
US Tipping Habits
My Visualization
Tipping is a topic you cannot avoid when living in the US. This week, I found a survey by Pew Research Center on people’s opinions on tipping. It has interesting insights into people’s preferences under different scenarios and by different demographics.
Please notice that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.
Insights
- The majority of people agree that they always/often tip when eating at a restaurant where there are servers;
- Haircuts (78%), food delivery (76%), and bars (71%) are in the middle group with ~ three-quarters of people tipping;
- People don’t usually tip at coffee shops or counter-service restaurants.
