Kīlauea volcano Eruption

On Dec 23, 2024, Kīlauea volcano started its sixth and most sustained summit eruption sequence since 2020. I have seen so many fascinating videos online, and almost wanted to check it out with my own eyes. But before that, how long does each fountaining episode usually last, and what’s the interval? To get a better sense, I found eruption data from usgs.gov to make a visualization this week.

My Visualization

This visualization is a chronological bar chart, with each bar representing when one fountaining episode started and when it paused.

Please note that all the visualizations are designed for desktop view, so it is recommended to view them on a desktop device.
