Migration to/from California
People move to and move out of California all the time. But where are the most common sources and where are the most popular destinations? This week, I got the state-to-state migration data from the US Census Bureau and visualized residents’ migration to/from California.

This visualization has two sankey charts, showing migrations into and out of California respectively.

Insights
- California is one of the most popular migration destinations for foreigners – out of the 738k residents who migrated to CA, 316k (43%) are from abroad;
- As for the people migrating out of California, the most common destinations are Texas (14%), Arizona (8%), and Washington (6%).
