US Median Income by Sex and Race

To celebrate Women’s History Month, I looked for another dataset around women this week, and found this newsletter by the US Census Bureau. They included various statistics about women from the US Census, linked to a dataset of US median income by sex and race on this page. This is a great dataset to observe income inequality a bit.

Insights

  • Across all races, we see large gap between male and female’s median income;
  • The gap is largest in Asian and White groups (~$20k). The male population in these two groups also has the highest income in all segments;
  • Meanwhile, compared to males, female income doesn’t differ as much in different ethnic groups.
